Cold Sore Removal

Cold Sore Removal

Some people develop painful sores or blisters around their lips and tongue. These sores are called cold sores or fever blisters and are scientifically called Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV-1). These blisters usually start as reddish and yellowish blisters that break open and leak a fluid, which can be infectious. These blisters scab and then disappears after several weeks.

These blisters are caused by the Herpes simplex- virus usually got as a child, which lies dormant for many years. Once contracted, the Cold Sores or Oral Herpes can stay in the body for the rest of one's life, and recur at times of stress, sickness, over-sun exposure, etc.

Treatment

Cold sores will usually heal on their own within a few days of appearing and disappear within 2 weeks. However, you might want to treat it as soon as possible because of its pain and unsightly appearance. McConnell Dental Care provides the best cold sore treatment using Periolase Laser. This state-of-the-art laser treatment can prevent the eruption of oral herpetic lesions while reducing pain and making the healing process faster.

How does it work?

During the process of Periolase laser treatment, the laser light is directly shined onto the area of the cold sores that is about to break out or where it has already formed. The laser's energy penetrates the site and kills the virus that is responsible for the sore outbreak. Anesthesia is not needed during the laser treatment as the laser does not actually touch the skin. The procedure takes just a few minutes, and this treatment is proven to be effective even within the first visit. If you have a broken blister, the laser energy will reduce pain and helps speed up the body's own healing process.

Once you are contracted with the virus, it will stay in you forever, but evidence has shown that the cold sore will not return to the same spot once treated by the laser energy.
